Why support is needed

David Crown

Musical Director

Cheltenham Bach Choir is proud of its achievements and reputation for musical excellence and inspirational choral performances.

The Choir has been privileged to perform for audiences at home in Gloucestershire and further afield in the UK and Europe. Some of the very best conductors, soloists and orchestras have been part of the choir's musical journey which began over 70 years ago in 1946 in Cheltenham.

Performing with professional orchestras and soloists bring costs which are rarely fully met by ticket sales. Similarly, the rehearsal expenses and the appointment and musical expertise of a top class Musical Director, Assistant Musical Director and Accompanist have to be met by the annual subscription fee paid by each singing member as well as fund-raising activities and events organised by the committee and choir members.

The Choir depends on financial help from Benefactors and Supporters to enable them to continue to provide a wide range of choral works and concerts which have delighted audiences for over seven decades. The outreach work that the choir are committed to providing for students and young adults in the local area also requires financial support.

Financial support comes from a wide range of donors including local businesses, Arts organisations and individuals. Their support is invaluable to the Choir and without their donations Cheltenham Bach Choir would not have the excellent musical reputation it has enjoyed for many years.

Read more about the Choir's aims and commitments on the ABOUT page.

How to support CBC

There are a number of ways that individuals, businesses and organisations can offer financial support to help CBC achieve its aims:

Bach Benefactors

The Bach Benefactors scheme was launched in the Choir's 70th Anniversary year (2016), with the aim to provide financial contributions towards performance costs and to support the Choir's outreach work in the local area. There are three donation options available to Bach Benefactors:

Benefactor: £100–£249
Principal Benefactor: £250–£749
Bach Circle: £750+

Bach Benefactors receive priority seating and a complimentary programme for concerts, as well as invitations to receptions and events organised by the Choir for the year of their gift.

To find out more about the Bach Benefactors donor scheme please email the choir using this address :

The Choir welcomes the opportunity to build mutually supportive relationships with local businesses and companies in the area.

We have a range of sponsorship opportunities available for corporate support such as sponsoring a concert or a soloist, or sponsorship for the year. In return you will receive complimentary tickets to concerts, advertising space in concert programmes and acknowledgment in the Choir's publicity materials.

The number of tickets and size of advertising space is dependent on the level of sponsorship. For more details about how your business or company can provide sponsorship please contact Nicola Bryant by writing to her at:
